What personal data Pricelens collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how to see or delete it.
Last updated Oct 9, 2026
Summary
We collect what we need to run Pricelens: your account details, what you choose to track, and how you pay. Page-view statistics are anonymous. We do not sell your data. Pages show ads from Google AdSense, and Google may use cookies to choose them (see below).
Pricelens is the controller of this data, under Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law 151 of 2020). Contact: support@pricelens.store.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, username, display name (optional) and password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash.
- Sign-in sessions: the IP address and browser of each sign-in, so you and we can spot sessions that are not yours.
- What you track: watchlist, price alerts, cart watches, the banks you save for installment offers, and your notification settings.
- Notification addresses: the email, Telegram chat or browser push subscription you connect for alerts.
- Payments: the plan, amount, invoices and status. For wallet or InstaPay transfers, the transfer number and, if you give it, the wallet number or InstaPay address you paid from. Card details are entered on Paymob’s (or Stripe’s) page and never reach us.
- Business and seller accounts: organisation name, members and invitations, the products and competitors you track, API keys (stored as a hash) and daily API usage counts.
- What you type or upload: search terms, Deal Hunter and Advisor requests, coupon and promo reports. A photo used for image search is sent to the AI provider to read it and is not stored by us.
- Page views: the page, search terms, the site you came from, device type (phone, tablet or computer), language and time on page, tied to a random ID kept in your browser. We do not store your IP address with these.
- Store clicks: when you follow a link to a store, which listing it was, your browser, a one-way hash of your IP address, and your account if you are signed in, to count clicks and confirm affiliate commissions.
Why we use it
- to provide what you asked for: accounts, alerts, plans, invoices and the API (performing our agreement with you);
- to keep the service secure and stop abuse and fraud (our legitimate interest);
- to understand which pages and features are used, from anonymous statistics (our legitimate interest);
- to keep billing records the law requires (legal obligation);
- to send you messages about your account, plan and alerts. We send marketing only if you ask for it, and you can stop it at any time.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run Pricelens, and only what each one needs:
- hosting and email delivery, to run the site and send alerts;
- Paymob and, where offered, Stripe, to take card, wallet and Fawry payments;
- Telegram, if you connect alerts there;
- AI providers (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and OpenRouter as a router) for image search, Deal Hunter, the Advisor and product matching. They receive the text or photo of the request, not your account details;
- Google AdSense, which shows the ads on our pages. Google and its partners may use cookies and your IP address to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can turn personalised ads off at https://adssettings.google.com, and read how Google uses this data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites;
- authorities, when Egyptian law requires it.
Some of these providers process data outside Egypt. We use them under their data protection terms and send them only what the task needs.
Product images on Pricelens load from the stores’ own image servers (Amazon, Noon, Jumia, AliExpress), so those servers see your IP address as any website would. When you click through to a store, its own privacy policy and cookies apply.
How long we keep it
- account data, watchlist and alerts: while your account is open, then deleted when you ask us to delete it;
- sign-in sessions: they expire after 7 days without use, and the record is deleted 90 days after a session ends;
- invoices and payment records: as long as Egyptian tax and accounting law requires;
- page views and store clicks: 13 months, then deleted. A click that earned us a commission is kept as a payment record, but without your account, browser or IP hash.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a copy, or object to how we use it, and you can withdraw consent you gave. Write to support@pricelens.store from the email address on your account. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Center.
You can change your notification settings, remove alert addresses and empty your watchlist yourself in your account at any time.
Security
Traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), passwords and API keys are hashed, sign-in tokens live in cookies that page scripts cannot read, and access to the database is limited. No system is perfectly safe; if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
Pricelens is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top, and we tell signed-in users about important changes before they take effect.
